Uduk Rice (Nasi Uduk/Sego Gurih) also tastes delicious, and How to make it (Traditional Food from Betawi)

The famous Nasi Uduk comes from Betawi (West Java). Now not only in Betawi, but also in Sumatra, Kalimantan (Borneo), Padang has already consumed this food. Today, I’m going to show you how to cook nasi uduk/Uduk Rice from Betawi.

If you ask me a question about nasi uduk or uduk rice, I will answer “Mmmm yummy… That’s my favorite food that I have eaten. You know, almost people around Java Island know this delicious food. I make Uduk Rice (Nasi Uduk) once time in a month for spending time to eat together with my family.
The famous Nasi Uduk comes from Betawi (West Java). Now not only in Betawi, but also in Sumatra, Kalimantan (Borneo), Padang has already consumed this food. Today, I’m going to show you how to cook nasi uduk/Uduk Rice from Betawi.


Ingredients:

  • 350 grams of rise
  • 500 cc coconut milk from a half of coconut
  • ½ teaspoon coriander powder
  • ½ stalk lemongrass (crussed)
  • One bay leaf
  • One pandan leaves
  • The salt to taste

Additional Materials:

  • Roasted peanut
  • Tomato
  • Egg (fried and thinly sliced)
  • Cucumber (Sliced)
  • Basil
  • Fried Onions

Sauce:

  • 10 pieces of cayenne pepper then pour it with hot water
  • 5 pieces of red chili then pour it with hot water
  • 20 grams of peanuts (fried)
  • 5 pecans (fried)
  • One teaspoon of salt to taste
  • 1½ teaspoon of sugar
  • 45 cc of warm water
  • 1 teaspoon vinegar

How to cook it:

  1. Steam the rice wait till it has half cooked then lift.
  2. Boil coconut milk, coriander, lemongrass, bay leaf, pandan, salt wait until boiling. Lift.
  3. Enter the rice and coconut milk together into rice cooker, just wait until it’s done.
  4. Grind all of the contain of the sauce such as cayenne pepper, red pepper, salt, and sugar until smooth then add the warm water, stir it until smooth then the last add the vinegar.
Serve with all of the additional complement like in above namely:  Roasted peanut, Tomato, Egg (fried and thinly sliced), Cucumber (Sliced), Basil, Fried Onions.
